CRAWFORD COUNTY, OH (CRAWFORD COUNTY NOW)—A two-vehicle accident near the intersection of State Route 4 and Brokensword Road resulted in the death of one individual and serious injuries to another.
The accident prompted a response from the Crawford County Sheriff’s Office, along with the Lykens, Liberty, and Chatfield Volunteer Fire Departments and Life First Ambulance.
According to officials, the crash occurred when 60-year-old Ronnie Huff of Willard, Ohio, was driving a white 1991 Chevrolet Silverado, which was towing a trailer and traveling eastbound on Brokensword Road. Meanwhile, 61-year-old Michelle D. Nickler was driving a tan 2010 Toyota Tacoma northbound on State Route 4.
The two vehicles collided and veered off the roadway, ultimately striking and severing a utility pole.
This incident caused telephone and power lines to fall across the road.
Mr. Huff was pronounced dead at the scene. Mrs. Nickler had to be mechanically extracted from her vehicle and was subsequently flown to Columbus for medical treatment due to the extent of her injuries.
The Ohio Department of Transportation (ODOT) assisted at the site by diverting traffic around the crash area. Representatives from American Electric Power (AEP) and Crawford County Coroner Dr. Christopher Johnson were also present to address the aftermath of the incident.
Both vehicles involved were removed from the scene by Carl’s Towing and Knecht’s Towing.
