The Central Joint Ambulance District ended the year on a quiet note Wednesday night by choosing four members for the oversight committee.

Ron Miller, Jason Long, Dale Garverick, and Jamie Sherk agreed to be members of the district’s oversight committee.

With the final meeting of the year the board said goodbye to four members who will be replaced at the January meeting. Carl Rader (Auburn), Arnold Auck (Chatfield), Dan Weisenauer (Lykens), and Lindall Rachel (Jefferson) attended their last meeting as CJAD representatives of their townships.

In his parting words to the board Rachel told the CJAD to keep things rolling and to keep costs at a minimum. Weisenauer added that the next few years are going to be interesting for the CJAD.

CJAD Board President Dale Sipe rounded out the year wishing a happy holiday season to those on the committee.

“It has been a year of ups and downs. We have seen much improvement. The run times are getting better,” Sipe said. “Next year I hope to improve on the map times. I would like to thank Matt Crall for all of his help. I would like to wish all on the committee a happy holiday.”

In Jesse Sipes’ report to the CJAD he noted that Life Support answered a total of 250 9-1-1 calls with 35 refusals and 34 fire standbys. When asked why there were so many fires in the month of November Sipes noted that the majority of the fire standbys were for brush fires, and not structural fires. Of the calls there were five approved variances and one variance unapproved.

Board members agreed to hold the organizational elections during the January meeting. The next board meeting will take place at 6:30 p.m. on Jan. 20.
