Crestline held its fifth annual memory tree lighting Thursday night to help ring in the Holiday Season.
Situated out front of the village administrative building, the memory tree is a Christmas tree where lights can be purchased in honor of people.
Julie Rossington is a member of the Community Development Team, and the memory tree is a fundraiser for that group that she came up with. Interested parties can purchase a light on the tree for $10. The name of the person so honored will go in a registry at Village Hall, and the participants will receive a certificate of honor.
“It’s been a good fundraiser for us,” Rossington said proudly.
She elaborated that funds from this program have gone toward landscaping and painting downtown, and helped finance the Santa parade and downtown trick or treating.
After the lighting ceremony at 7, the evening concluded with hot chocolate and cookies in Village Hall.
