Thanksgiving is over and that means one thing that has been lurking around the corner since Halloween: it’s officially the Christmas season. And nothing says Christmas like Bucyrus’ annual Candlelight Christmas event.
This year the event will take place from 5 – 8 p.m. on Thursday, Dec. 3 in downtown
Bucyrus. The Bucyrus Area Chamber of Commerce and downtown businesses get together every year to promote shopping locally and to join in on the holiday spirit.
“It’s been going on for well over 20 so it kind of goes by itself,” said Bucyrus Chamber of Commerce Director Deb Pinion. She added that it is a night of good fellowship and friendship.
The Bucyrus Kiwanians will have their requisite chili and Santa will be in his house at Picking Park. Carolers stroll the streets, holiday concessions are set up, and free carriage rides are offered starting at the lot of the former Schines Theatre (at the corner of Warren Street and South Sandusky Avenue). Local group United in Harmony will be performing at the Pelican House and will later take their show to the street.
Pinion said luminaries, the signature mark of the Candlelight Christmas event, will be placed by individual businesses but sand can be picked up that day near the railroad tracks at FC Bank.
