BUCYRUS, OH (CRAWFORD COUNTY NOW)—Bucyrus City Schools Superintendent Robert Britton welcomes students, parents, and the community back to the new school year, emphasizing excitement and opportunities for growth. “We’re excited to have the kids back in session and looking forward to having everyone enjoy what Bucyrus City Schools has to offer this year, navigating students to career success—our true north,” Britton said.
This year, the district is rolling out new initiatives designed to provide real-world, hands-on learning experiences for all students. A STEM curriculum is being introduced at the elementary level, while middle and high school students will have access to fabrication and innovation labs. An advanced manufacturing lab will further enhance opportunities for practical, career-focused learning. “We’re giving our students the chance to explore, learn, and apply skills in ways that prepare them for life after graduation,” Britton explained.
Superintendent Britton also offered guidance for staff, emphasizing the importance of every student’s well-being. “Every student matters,” he said. “Sometimes in the daily grind, we forget that our teachers might be the best option for students— We can’t ever forget our charge; that’s our calling and why we got into education.”
For students, Britton encouraged keeping an open mind and embracing all the new experiences this year. “We’re doing a lot of hands-on activities and bringing in community partners for real-world problem solving. Don’t pigeonhole yourself into one path—you never know where life will take you,” he advised.
Parents and community members can best support the schools by maintaining communication with teachers and administrators. Britton emphasized, “We don’t know what we don’t know. If issues arise, reach out to us. Most problems can be solved at the lowest level, and we have the resources to support students every step of the way.”
