MANSFIELD, OH (CRAWORD COUNTY NOW)—The Mansfield Police Division, with the assistance of multiple law enforcement agencies, has arrested two suspects in connection with the fatal shooting of 18-year-old Ja’myrion Hobbs.

Yaounde Hawthorne, 25, of Mansfield, was taken into custody on Thursday evening at a residence on Maple Street, according to a press release from the police department. He is charged with murder.

In a separate action, a 15-year-old was also arrested and charged with murder in connection with Hobbs’ death. The juvenile’s name is not being released due to their age.

The arrests were the result of an ongoing investigation and were made possible by “valuable tips and information provided by members of our community,” the release stated. Law enforcement agencies involved in the arrests included the Richland County ASORT Team, the Major Crimes Section of the Mansfield Division of Police, and the METRICH Enforcement Unit.

The shooting of Ja’myrion Hobbs occurred on Sunday, Aug. 17. The investigation remains active, and authorities are encouraging anyone with additional information to contact Detective Korey Kaufman at 419-755-9748.
