GALION, OH (CRAWFORD COUNTY NOW)–The City of Galion will conduct city-wide mosquito spraying starting Thursday, August 7, weather permitting.
The northern half of the city will be sprayed beginning at 3:00 a.m. on Thursday, with the southern half to follow on Friday, August 8, at the same time. Harding Way will serve as the dividing line for the two spraying zones.
Residents are advised to close their windows and keep children and pets indoors during the spraying.
To help residents combat mosquito breeding, the Galion City Health Department is providing free mosquito dunks. These dunks can be placed in areas of stagnant water to prevent mosquito larvae from developing. They are available for pickup at the Health Department, located at 113 Harding Way East.
The Health Department also offers these tips to help eliminate mosquitoes in your yard:
- Empty or remove receptacles that can hold water.
- Clean bird baths twice a week.
- Discard old tires or store them indoors.
- Repair leaky plumbing and outside faucets.
- Ensure gutters and downspouts are clear of blockage.
- Empty your pets’ water dishes daily.
