GALION, OH (CRAWFORD COUNTY NOW)—”You asked – We listened!” Galion Community Theatre (GCT) is set to host two summer theater opportunities for young performers, in addition to its annual youth production.

This summer’s main youth production will be “Joseph and the Amazing Technicolor Dreamcoat,” with performances scheduled for July 25 and 26, and August 1, 2, and 3. Auditions are open to actors ages 10-20.

Expanding its offerings, GCT will also host two day camps from Monday, June 2, through Friday, June 6, welcoming even younger actors to the stage.

For children ages 5-8, the “Can You Help Me Find My Way To GCT?” program will feature popular songs from Sesame Street, with participants embodying iconic characters. Rehearsals will be held Monday through Thursday, June 2-5, from 9:30 a.m. to 11:30 a.m., and Friday, June 6, from 9:30 a.m. to 11:00 a.m. A public performance will follow on Friday at 11:30 a.m.

Children ages 8-10 can participate in “Off To See The Wizard!,” a creative twist on the classic “Wizard of Oz” story with reimagined songs. Rehearsals are scheduled for Monday through Thursday, June 2-5, from 1:30 p.m. to 4:00 p.m., and Friday, June 6, from 1:30 p.m. to 4:00 p.m. A public performance will take place on Friday at 5:30 p.m. Pizza and drinks will be provided for the older campers between the Friday rehearsal and performance.

The registration fee for either camp is $25, which includes five days of singing, dancing, a cast shirt, and a Friday snack. The deadline to register and guarantee a shirt is Friday, May 16.

These youth programs have been developed by Danielle Meddles Imler, who brings 20 years of music teaching and theater experience, including directing show choirs, teaching music to students K-12, running summer music programs, and directing youth theater productions. She will be assisted by volunteer GCT Board Members and the GCT Youth Board.
