Larry Duffner, age 86, of Galion left his earthly home to be with his Lord and Savior Thursday December 26, 2024 surrounded by his family.
Born February 11, 1938 in Crestline, he was the son of the late Martin and Martha (Cochran) Duffner. He married Carol Campbell on December 1, 1956 and they enjoyed 68 years together.
He was a 1956 graduate of Crestline High School. He worked for several Galion companies during his life including Peabody, North Electric and PECO.
Larry was a member of the Crestline Church of the Nazarene where he was given a special award for serving as a Sunday School teacher for 35 years. He enjoyed singing in the church choir. He had also served as Sunday School Superintendent at Christ Church. He was a jack of all trades and could fix anything including items that were irretrievably broken. He enjoyed working puzzles and erector sets as well as reading Western novels. He was known to have a sense of humor and loved telling Dad jokes. He was an avid sports fan and rooted for the Buckeyes, Guardians and Browns. He liked WWII aviation history and had also served in the Army National Guard. His biggest passions were his grandchildren and family as well as his love for Jesus.
In addition to his wife Carol, he is survived by his three children: Patrick (Robin) Duffner, Shawn (Sharon) Duffner and Colleen (Lee) Staats, six grandchildren: Nicole Burgermyer, Spencer (Bailey) Boggs, Adam (Amy) Staats, Jack (Elena) Duffner, Mitch (Gillian) Duffner and Casey (Bailey) Duffner, three great grandchildren: Audrey Reynolds, River Staats and Luka Duffner, his brother Kevin Duffner and his beloved cat Millie.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his great granddaughter Reagan Staats and nine siblings.
The family will receive friends from 10:00 – 11:00 AM Saturday December 28, 2024 at the Crestline Church of the Nazarene 500 E. Main St. Crestline, where services will follow at 11:00 AM with Pastor Jim Lillo officiating.
