In weather that was more befitting of a duck area high school football teams had to battle Mother Nature as well as each other Friday night.

In the Iron Plow Trophy contest that pitted the Wynford Royals and Col. Crawford Eagles, Wynford’s Zach Hoffman put on a one man show scoring 6 touchdowns on the way to a 41-14 victory.

Hoffman started Wynford’s scoring with 10:37 to go in the first capping off a 3 play 39 yard drive with a 15 yard rush to put Wynford up 7-0.

Col. Crawford rebounded quickly with 9:10 to go in the first Will Kirkpatrick scored on a 47 yard run. Crawford struck again with Kirkpatrick connecting to Owen Adams with 5:35 to go in the first to put the Eagles up 14-7.

With the first quarter drawing to a close Wynford evened up the ball game at 14 on a 12 play 80 yard drive that was capped off by a 6 yard touchdown reception by Nick Looker. Wynford never looked back outscoring Col. Crawford 27-0 over the final 3 quarters of play.

Hoffman went 4 of 7 through the air for 98 yards and 3 touchdowns. On the ground Hoffman carried the rock 23 times for 154 yards and another 3 scores.

Col. Crawford’s Will Kirkpatrick went 6 of 9 for 63 yards and a touchdown. Kirkpatrick led the Eagles on the ground as well rushing for 129 yards on 17 attempts and a touchdown.

After the game Wynford’s Ag. Instructor Mike Hoffman along with Wynford FFA President Ethan Stuckey and Col. Crawford FFA President Taylor Lutz presented the Iron Plow Trophy to Wynford.

Coming off of last week’s heartbreaking loss to Seneca East in overtime Buckeye Central extracted their revenge on the Ridgemont Gophers 54-6.

Buckeye Central started their scoring barrage with 8:03 to go in the first when B.C. QB Grant Loy connected with Warren Wechter from 12 yards out to go up 7-0. Loy continued with his clinic on the Gophers defense. Completing touchdown passes from 32 yards out to Scott Heydinger and 15 yards out to Cody Roberts. During this stretch Loy also ran a QB sneak into the end zone.

Roberts added a 1 yard rushing touchdown with 16 seconds to go in the first half to put Buckeye Central up 33-0.

Buckeye Central didn’t let up in the second half reaching pay dirt 3 times and scoring a safety. The Gophers finally got on the board with 2:04 to go in the game on a 1 yard rush to put the game at 54-6.

Loy led the Bucks’ passing attack completing 10 of 14 passes for 184 yards 3 touchdowns and 1 rushing touchdown.

Owen Ackerman led the Bucks on the ground with 94 yards on 6 attempts and a touchdown. Roberts carried the ball 11 times for 85 yards and a touchdown.

In other action around the county Bucyrus fell to Seneca East 40-0, Galion defeated Keystone 49-0, and Crestline fell to Fischer Catholic 37-7.
