GALION — Several local teams and individual runners advanced to the regional round during cross country district qualifying meets on Saturday morning.

Division III

Buckeye Central, Bucyrus, Colonel Crawford and Wynford competed at Amann’s Park, with 20 schools represented.

The Eagle boys captured first place (46 points) over Huron (64) and Bucyrus (88). Both Crawford and Bucyrus advance as teams.

Bucyrus junior Karter Boggs took second place in 16:30.29, with Colonel Crawford’s Shawn Auck in fourth at 16:41.45.

Huron’s Sage Edgerly-Bork won it with a 16:02.39 clocking.

Other placers were CC’s Braeden Grau sixth in 17:13.94 and teammates Adam Scott eighth in at 17:28.46 and Isaac Stirm ninth at 17:31.49.

Anderson (AJ) Griffin of Bucyrus finished 12th in 17:39.74. Redmen Charlie Miley came in 22nd at 18:03.89 and Carter Bierce 23rd at 18:05.48.

Buckeye Central’s Jeremiah Roberson was 27th (18:19.46) and Braden Siefert 28th (18:37.73).

The Buckettes were eighth and Wynford 12th.

Angela Figueroa led the Buckeye Central girls with a 17th-place finish in 21:08.00. Nevaeh Metzger was 20th in 21:17.00. Both will advance.

Huron won the girls with 40 points to Ashland Crestview’s 71. BC was seventh, Crestline eighth and Colonel Crawford 10th.

Division II

Makayla Halbisen led the Galion contingent taking third in the girls race in 19:29.45. Makenzie Halbisen came in 10th with a time of 20:39.05.

The girls placed sixth. Lexington took team honors.

Upper Sandusky finished third as a unit to qualify.

Galion’s Anthony Ferrini finished 23rd with a time of 17:45.39. Lexington’s Latrell Hughes won the boys event, and the team also was first.

The Tiger boys took 10th overall. Warriors, Tigers advance in D-III

FINDLAY — Mohawk boys took first and Seneca East fourth in the Division III district at Owens Community College.

Both move on to the regional meet at Hedges Boyer Park in Tiffin next Saturday.

Seneca East senior Evan Schiefer took first in 15:49.77. Brayden Cleveland of Mohawk placed fourth in 16:30.40.

Warrior sophomores Phoenix Nally took 12th in 17:18.39, and Myer Kirian was 22nd in 17:48.99 22. Senior Kolten Helton of Mohawk clocked 17:55.01 to finish 26th.

On the girls side, Mohawk’s Addison Horner placed 12th in 20:55.64 to advance.

Seneca East junior Valerie Bordner was 16th in 21:37.32 and she qualified.
