BUCYRUS, OH (CRAWFORD COUNTY NOW)—The Bucyrus Kiwanis Club proudly announces the transition of leadership as Kate Volk steps into the role of President, following three years of exceptional leadership from outgoing President Dane Kennedy. During his tenure, Dane, owner of Kennedy Landscaping and grandson of long-time Kiwanis legend John Kennedy, led the club to great success, including overseeing the completion of the community splash pad project. Under his leadership, the Bucyrus Kiwanis Club was named the 2023 Organization of the Year.

“We are incredibly grateful for Dane’s dedication, countless hours of hard work, and the passion he brought to every project,” said Nate Roshon. “His leadership has left a lasting impact on both our club and the wider Bucyrus community.”

Kate Volk, Marketing Technologist at First Federal Community Bank (FFCB), has been a dedicated Kiwanis member for the past five years. She was honored as the 2023 Volunteer of the Year and is passionate about sharing the initiatives of non-profits across the region. Her behind-the-scenes involvement with the Bucyrus Bratwurst Festival has spanned several years, and in 2024, she stepped out in person to help where needed at the festival.

“I have some big shoes to fill,” said Kate. “Dane has done an incredible job leading this organization, and I want to personally thank him for all his hard work. I’m excited to continue the great work we’ve been doing in our community.”

In addition to this leadership transition, the Bucyrus Kiwanis Club is excited to host its annual golf outing this Sunday at 1 PM. It promises to be a fun event for all participants, with proceeds supporting the club’s ongoing community projects.

The Bucyrus Kiwanis Club also welcomed several new members during this transitional period and took time to honor past presidents Amanda Sheets, Steve Ritzhaupt, and Doug Foght for their contributions and ongoing support of the club.

“We’re excited for what lies ahead with Kate at the helm,” Becky Lutz added. “Her passion for service and dedication to our community is exactly what makes Kiwanis such a strong organization.”

The Bucyrus Kiwanis Club remains committed to serving the community, and under Kate Volk’s leadership, it will continue to uphold its legacy of service, community improvement, and growth. For more information about the club, including upcoming events and membership, please visit BucyrusKiwanis.org.
