BUCYRUS, OH (CRAWFORD COUNTY NOW)—The excitement is already “growing” for Crawford County’s second agritourism event – the Farm Hop.

The Farm Hop is set for Saturday, August 10, from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m.  It’s a self-guided tour and farmer’s market designed to connect local farmers with the community as well as showcase what they have to offer.

More than 200 visitors turned out for the first Farm Hop in April, according to one of the organizers, Scott McKnight.  “We had a successful turnout, and we had many customers ask us about doing it again,” he said.  “There were a lot of positive comments.”

At least 10 farms have agreed to participate in August, McKnight said, along with God’s Little Acre farmer’s market in Galion.  Each farm will be planning their own activities that day, plus selling vegetables, meat, flowers, and other locally sourced products, he said.

Some new vendors have also joined the bandwagon this time, McKnight said, including Blissful Barnyard.  The food trailer based in northern Crawford County will be offering fresh produce and a variety of baked goods, he said.

Some of the homesteads have also planned special tours, demonstrations, and giveaways, said McKnight, the owner of Abundantly Blessed Farm in Bucyrus.  Visitors are encouraged to sample local farm fare as they “hop” from one farm to the next.

McKnight said the Farm Hop April 6 was planned to coincide with activities surrounding the total solar eclipse.  “The first one went well.  Honestly, we were pretty surprised.  I think we were all impressed with what we did on the day.”

Digital maps will be available so that visitors can start from any location on the tour.  The Farm Hop will be held rain or shine.  Additional information is available at Linktr.ee/Abundantly/BlessedFarm

“It’s just a fun time to be able to go out, enjoy, see where foods raised and comes from and connect with the farmers,” McKnight said.
