BUCYRUS, OH (CRAWFORD COUNTY NOW)—During Tuesday’s City Council Meeting in Bucyrus, resident David John III made a heartfelt plea to the council during the public participation portion of the session. John expressed his desire for the council to start each meeting with a 2-5 minute prayer to give praise to Jesus Christ, the Lord and Savior, and to ask God to bless the council as they do their work on behalf of the city.
In light of recent challenges, including a tornado that struck Bucyrus and ongoing unrest within the council and the nation, John emphasized the importance of coming together in prayer. He stressed the need for unity and the guidance of a higher power, stating, “We need our Heavenly Father. Christ paid a heavy price for us. We need to come together for our council, our community, our nation, and the world.”
Council President Kurt Fankhauser acknowledged John’s request, revealing that an invocation had been on the agenda for some time. However, local ministers have not expressed interest in leading the opening prayer at the meetings.
