SHELBY, OH (CRAWFORD COUNTY NOW)—Sacred Heart School’s 131st annual festival is set to take place on Sunday, July 28th, on the parish grounds located at 5742 St. Rt. 61 South, Shelby, Ohio 44875. The family-oriented event will begin at 11:00 am and continue until 10:00 pm, offering a full day of fun and festivities.
The festival, a tradition spanning over a century, is the highlight of the summer for many in the community. The main attraction is the ½ chicken or ham dinners, barbecued on the parish grounds and served with homemade dressing and desserts. The meal, priced at $12.00 for adults and $10.00 for a smaller portion, includes a variety of sides and a choice of beverage.
In addition to the food, the festival offers a range of activities for all ages. Children can enjoy games in the kids’ tent, putt-putt golf, horse-drawn wagon rides, and live animal attractions. Adults can browse the Farmers Market Booth, view antique farm machinery on display, play instant bingo, and participate in other games of chance.
The MEGA raffle is another highlight of the festival, with prizes including a hot air balloon ride, $500 off Sacred Heart tuition, freezer meat, an original painting, a gas grill, a Norwex mop system, a family fun pack to a local corn maze and farm, a basket of Sacred Heart themed items, a bicycle, an Apple watch, and more. Hourly drawings, 50/50 drawings, and a reverse raffle with a $1,500 top winner add to the excitement.
The Bavarian Village will be open from 1:00 PM to 10:00 PM, providing live musical entertainment throughout the day. Ample shaded seating is available throughout the parish grounds, and parking is free.
The 131st annual Sacred Heart Festival serves as the primary fundraiser supporting Sacred Heart School, a Preschool-8th grade facility open to all denominations. Sacred Heart of Jesus Parish was founded in 1833, and Sacred Heart School, founded in 1837, is the oldest continuously operating Roman Catholic school in the Toledo Diocese.
