With the Crawford County Fair less than one week away the Senior Fair Board held its final meeting to tie up loose ends before the fair opens this weekend.

After tabling the policy prohibiting drones on the fairgrounds at its prior meeting, the Fair Board unanimously approved the policy banning the use of unmanned craft. Prior to the vote Fair Board President Rebecca Starner provided an example of the policy which had been adopted from the Del Mar Fairgrounds’ policy on drone usage.

The Crawford County Policy on drones reads:

“The operation or use of any drones, unmanned aircraft/flying systems, and remotely controlled or radio controlled flying machines (whether or not motorized) of all types, shapes, and sizes (collectively “drones”) at any time on the Crawford County Fairgrounds is prohibited under all circumstances except pursuant to the terms and conditions of written permission from the Crawford County Agricultural Society. This policy applies to all individuals, persons, companies, and business entities and includes, but not necessarily limited to, promoters, tenants, renters, patrons, visitors, and guests. Permission to stay or remain on the Crawford County Fairgrounds property may, in the discretion of the Crawford County Fair Board, be revoked for any person(s) in violation of the policy.”

The Fair Board approved the ability to get premium sale for two poultry whose entries had not been found 13 to 3. The first case was a non-market duck, the other case dealt with a market broiler chicken. In both circumstances the families had multiple animals entered with the other animals’ forms turned in, claiming that they had turned in all their animals’ paperwork.

The Fair Board approved reducing the cost for passes for those in the antique tractor display and parade from $30 to $15.

The Fair Board approved to purchase $5 meal tickets for each Fair Board member 10 to 3 Wednesday night. The meal tickets will be able to be used at the 4-H food booth, the Lykens Fire Department Food Booth, and the Cattlemen’s Association Food Booth.

Don Frombaugh gave an update on the buildings saying that the buildings are finished and sided, the doors are replaced, but the Poultry Barn has been too wet to paint for the time due to rain.
