MORROW COUNTY, OH (CRAWFORD COUNTY NOW)—A fatal two-vehicle collision that occurred on June 6, 2024, is currently under investigation by the Mt. Gilead Post of the Ohio State Highway Patrol. The crash took place at approximately 5:52 p.m. on State Route 19 near County Road 8 in North Bloomfield Township, Morrow County.
The initial investigation revealed that Julie Switzer, 58, of Galion, Ohio, was driving a 2002 Buick LeSabre eastbound on County Road 8. Concurrently, Katrina Christo, 44, also from Galion, Ohio, was operating a 2021 Jeep Wrangler southbound on State Route 19.
Switzer failed to yield at the stop sign and entered the intersection, resulting in a collision with Christo’s vehicle. Following the impact, both vehicles veered off the east side of the roadway.)
Switzer sustained fatal injuries at the scene. Christo, on the other hand, suffered minor injuries and received treatment at the scene. Both drivers were wearing seatbelts at the time of the crash. Alcohol is suspected to be a factor in this incident.
The Ohio State Highway Patrol received assistance at the scene from the Crawford County Sheriff’s Office, Iberia Fire Department, Galion Fire & EMS, Morrow County EMS, and the Morrow County Coroner’s Office. The investigation is ongoing.
