BUCYRUS, OH (CRAWFORD COUNTY NOW)—A Crawford County couple are “diving” headfirst into a new line of work – dumpster services.
Andrew Eichhorn and his wife, Darlene, have launched 2 H’S Dumpsters, LLC, which officially opened March 1. The roll-off dumpsters can be rented for any type of home or business clean-up or construction project, Eichhorn said.
“Business is good for being open only a couple of months,” said Eichhorn, a Crawford County native. “We’ve had quite a few rentals. We’ve also had some repeat customers so far.”
2 H’s Dumpsters, named after the letters in their last name, has five heavy-duty trash containers for rent, each with a 15 cubic yard capacity, Eichhorn said. They are available seven days a week, perfect for DIY or remodeling projects, he said.
Eichhorn bought a Ford F-550 pick-up truck to transport the dumpsters, which are hoisted up and then placed on the ground for customers. When the rental period is over, he picks them up and hauls the debris to a local landfill.
Eichhorn, 38, works full-time in Findlay, Ohio, but has four days off every week. He said he and Darlene started talking about the prospect of another job last fall. “We researched it and thought it would be a good side business to do with my extra time.”
The company services a 40-mile radius from the Crawford-Wyandot County line, Eichhorn said, with jobs so far coming from co-workers, Facebook advertising, and word of mouth. “I’m just trying to provide an affordable, flexible service to the community.”
Eichhorn, who grew up in Galion on Windfall Road, graduated from Colonel Crawford High School in 2004. He and Darlene, a Wynford graduate, have been married 14 years and have a 10-year-old son, Caleb.
“My wife and I started the business to grow and hopefully have something for our son in the future if he decided he would like to take it over and do that,” Eichhorn said.
