BUCYRUS, OH (CRAWFORD COUNTY NOW)—The Bucyrus Matinee Club is gearing up for its annual Harness Racing Matinee on June 2 at 11 am with the first post. The event will be held at the Crawford County Fairgrounds located at 610 Whetstone Street in Bucyrus, Ohio.
Trainers are encouraged to bring their horses for gate schooling with time bar classes.
Classes for each gait, trot, and pace will be held from 2:30-2:05 with an entry fee of $25 per horse. Young drivers looking to gain experience behind the gate are also welcome.
Trainers are reminded to place their horses in the appropriate class, as there will be a fine/donation of $50 to the matinee club for breaking the time bar by more than 3 seconds.
Gate schooling will also be available at the end of the races for any horses that did not participate in a time bar race. All-time bar races will be schooled a half mile before their mile.
Food trucks, raffles, and programs will be available on the backside of the event. The public is welcome, with grandstands open for viewing and Ayers Ratliff calling the races for the matinee program.
Horsemen and women are asked to use the shed row stalls for shipping in. Entries can be made by phone or text at 419-569-7008, with an entry fee of $25 per horse. Winner circle pictures will be taken by Thom Pye, also known as The Harness Guy.
The Bucyrus Matinee Club would like to thank The Crawford County Ag. Society, Dubbin Valley Farm, Dr. J Stallion Management, The Darmofals, Big Dee’s Tack and Vet Supply, Heerzthestock Inc., and The Crawford County Horsemen and Women for their support.
