MANSFIELD, OH (CRAWFORD COUNTY NOW) — A double homicide and four felonious assaults have rocked the city of Mansfield, with the Major Crimes Unit of the Mansfield Division of Police actively investigating the incident.

The police responded to multiple calls about shots fired and people fleeing from 810 Ferndale Ave. at 11:40 p.m. Friday night. Upon arrival, officers discovered four gunshot victims at the residence. Two victims were rushed to a local hospital, while two were pronounced dead at the scene. A fifth gunshot victim was later reported by a hospital, having been brought in by a personal vehicle. During interviews with witnesses, it was revealed that a sixth individual had also been shot.

The deceased victims were aged 17 and 18, while the ages of those assaulted ranged from 14 to 19.

The crime scene was processed by the Mansfield Police Lab and detectives, with numerous pieces of evidence collected, including several guns and drugs.

Witnesses reported seeing a group of individuals fleeing the scene on foot and in vehicles but were unable to provide a clear description of the suspects or any vehicles involved.

“We are asking for the help of the community in identifying the suspects in these heinous crimes,” stated Lt. Robert J. Skropits.
