CRAWFORD COUNTY—The Crawford County Sheriff’s Office is reaching out to the community for assistance in a hit-and-run incident that occurred on the evening of Friday, September 29, 2023. Authorities are seeking information regarding a vehicle/bicycle accident that transpired on Fairview Rd. near Buckeye Dr. in Polk Township, situated just north of the City of Galion.
According to the preliminary investigation, the incident happened at approximately 8:50 PM when a bicyclist was traveling northbound on Fairview Ave. The bicyclist was equipped with proper rear and front lighting, ensuring visibility. Despite taking appropriate safety measures, the cyclist’s bicycle was struck from behind by a northbound sedan.
The aftermath of the collision was further compounded by the actions of the sedan’s driver, who opted to flee the scene. The vehicle in question is described as possibly being either a 2-door or 4-door light gray or silver sedan. It is suspected that the sedan sustained damage to its front center/front driver’s side in the course of the hit-and-run incident.
