MANSFIELD—The Richland County Foundation has recently granted educational program funds for the current school year to local educators across Richland County. These grants are designed to support creative and supplementary initiatives that fall outside the scope of regular school funding. The Teacher Assistance Program (TAP) Grants are specifically aimed at individual classroom teachers or small teams, with a maximum grant limit of $1,500.

This academic year, three educators from Abraxas School were beneficiaries of TAP Grants:

  • Lisa Yarger received $1,372.38 for her project “Art for Everyone.”
  • Julie Pfeifer secured $962.31 for “Classroom Supplies.”
  • Doug Thomas was awarded $1,355.70 for his program “Expanding Knowledge.”

Lisa Yarger conveyed her gratitude to the Richland County Foundation, emphasizing the importance of providing a creative sanctuary for students facing challenges. She intends to use the grant to create an environment where students can find solace in art. Julie Pfeifer expressed her appreciation, explaining how the materials would enable her students to engage in meaningful projects, such as crafting blankets for the homeless. Doug Thomas highlighted the dual impact of his grant, benefiting both history and physical education classes. He praised the foundation’s support and their belief in his educational goals.

Jolene Edwards, Principal of Abraxas School of Ohio, commended the dedication of the teachers and their commitment to enhancing the students’ experiences. She extended her gratitude to the Richland County Foundation for their continuous backing.
