James R. “Jim” Munroe, 65, of Mount Gilead passed away Friday, July 14, 2023 at home after a courageous battle with pancreatic cancer.

Born April 30, 1958 in Cambridge, Massachusetts, he was the son of Charles Leo and Alyce Bernadette (Mulqueeney) Munroe.  He married Cheri (Szidat) Munroe on January 20, 1978 and they enjoyed 45 years together.

He was a graduate of Acton-Boxborough Regional High School in Acton, Massachusetts. Jim worked for Sir Steak Machinery for 47 years, moving to Ohio in 1994 where he was currently president of the company. He enjoyed snowmobiling, quad riding, and was a car enthusiast liking NASCAR, (especially Kevin Harvick) and was a member of Rod’N Tiques Car Club. Jim liked to listen to music and was the sound tech for the band Kickin’ Grass.

In addition to his wife, he is survived by daughter Melanie (George) Abraham of Ravenna, Ohio; Siblings, Paula (Ron) Babcock of Indiana, Charles (Karen) Munroe Jr. of South Carolina, John (Nancy) Munroe of Massachusetts, and Mary (David) Behr of Indiana and numerous nieces and nephews.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by sister Lenore Munroe.
