BUCYRUS—After giving away 450 flags in just a half hour on Wednesday, VFW Post 1078 has ordered more flags to give away.
In an effort to promote patriotism and ensure the proper disposal of worn-out flags, the VFW Post will be giving away more 3×5 American flags to residents of Crawford County.
Since the post ran out of flags, more flags had to be ordered. The new date for the second flag giveaway will be on Wednesday August 2nd from 4-6pm at the post located at 330 East Mansfield St.
Residents of Crawford County are invited to bring their worn or tattered flags to the VFW Post during the drive-thru event. VFW members will ensure that the flags are disposed of in a respectful manner, adhering to the proper flag disposal protocols. In exchange, participants will receive a new 3×5 American flag.
If you don’t have a flag to dispose you are still invited to get a new flag courtesy of Post 1078.
For disabled individuals unable to visit VFW Post 1078, special arrangements have been made for flag delivery. Those requiring assistance can contact Lori Starner at 419-689-1003, and arrangements will be made to have a flag delivered to their location.
In addition to the flag distribution drive-thru, VFW Post 1078 is currently accepting new membership applications. Individuals interested in joining the VFW community are encouraged to inquire and apply at the post.
