Richard E. Newell age 87 of Upper Sandusky, died May 1, 2023 at Wyandot Co. Skilled Nursing and Rehab Center. He was born Feb. 3, 1936 in Wyandot Co. to the late Charles M. and M. Kathryn (Stalter) Newell.
Mr. Newell married Darlene A. Williams on Mar. 25, 1960, she survives along with their children Mark Newell, AL, Janet (William) Summers, Alvada, and Jennifer (James) Smalley, Upper Sandusky, 9 grandchildren Matthew (Jessica) Newell, David (Katelyn) Newell, Jonathan Newell, Jessica Newell, Eric Smalley, Sara (Jesse) Hughes, Michael (Alexa) Smalley, Lee (Paige) Summers, Jason (Kiera) Summers, 9 great grandchildren, a brother Allen Newell, a sister Shirley (David) Gibson, both of Upper Sandusky, a sister-in-law Martha Adcox, OR. He is preceded in death by a sister-in-law Corinne Newell.
Mr. Newell was a 1954 graduate of Upper Sandusky High School. He was a U.S. Army Veteran. He had worked for Bowman Farms for many years and retired from Upper Sandusky Parks Department. He was a past member of the Wyandot County Rod and Gun Club. Mr. Newell enjoyed hunting, especially mushroom hunting and supporting his grandchildren in all of their various activities.
