NORTH ROBINSON — On April 8, Colonel Crawford Eagles baseball coach Dan Gorbett won his 600th career game as a head coach when the Eagles defeated Delaware Christian, 14-0.
Gorbett has been coaching baseball since 1981. He has compiled 37 years as a head coach with a record of 600-316. From 1981-1995 he led Colonel Crawford, before going to Galion for 10 seasons.
He then coached six seasons for Ontario, then became an assistant coach at Galion again. In 2018, he returned to Colonel Crawford as the head coach, posting at 22-8 and regional birth his first season back with the Eagles. In 2019, the team went 26-3, won the Northern 10 Athletic Conference and lost in the district finals. Unfortunately, the 2020 season was lost to COVID-19.
The Eagles of 2021 struggled with youth and injuries in going 9-14. Colonel Crawford is now back on track, posting a 6-0 N10 record going into the heart of the league race in the next few weeks.
Gorbett is 273-166 at Colonel Crawford. During his career he has won 5 District Titles, 24 Sectional Titles, 7 N10 or North Central Conference titles, and 4 Northern Ohio League titles. He was president of the State Baseball Coaches Association in 2001 and was inducted into State Baseball Hall of Fame in 2006.
