Juanita Rose Young, 98 of Bucyrus, passed away on Tuesday, April 11, 2023 at Altercare of Bucyrus.
She was born November 10, 1924 in Bucyrus to the late James and Enid (Kidwell) Charleston and was a 1942 graduate of Bucyrus High School. She married Donald D. Knieriemen on July 24, 1949, in Galion and he preceded her in death. She worked for the Bucyrus Water Department, Crawford Steel Company, and The Newberry store.
Juanita attended Good Hope Lutheran Church where she was active in circle groups. She also appreciated the ladies of the church providing her with Communion when she could no longer attend services. She volunteered at the Bucyrus YMCA, Crawford County Council of Aging, Habitat for Humanity, Crawford County Chapter of the American Red Cross and spent many hours helping area residents as the C.A.M.P (Crestline Assistance and Ministries Program). Juanita was always willing to lend a helping hand to others and was proud of her volunteer work until reaching the age of 92 when her health forced her to slow down.
Nothing gave her more pleasure than visits from family and friends. For relaxation, Juanita enjoyed watching soap operas, solving crossword puzzles, word searches, and listening to Christian music. The big band sounds of Glen Miller, Lawrence Welk, and original Christmas music also gave her much enjoyment.
Juanita will be missed by her three daughters, Vicki Webb, Bucyrus, Cheryl (Tom) Campbell, Upper Sandusky, Gloria (Roger) Pelfrey, Bucyrus and her son Keith (Christy) Young, Bucyrus, nine grandchildren, LaRoi (Cheryl) Love, Shane, Travis, and Micah Campbell, Justin (Jeanie) Pelfrey, Craig Pelfrey and Brittany (Cyle) Pelfrey-Hardymon, Shayla Young and Alexis (Jacob Bowman) Young, fourteen great-grandchildren, and several great-great-grandchildren. She is also survived by a sister Barbara Schifer.
She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, two brothers James “Bud” and Ronald Charleston, three grandchildren Anthony and Nathan Love and Adam Young.
There will be a graveside service Friday, April 14, 2023 at 11:00 A.M. at Pleasant View Cemetery, Sycamore, Ohio, with Pastor Tanyce Addison officiating.
Donations can be made payable to Good Hope Lutheran Church or the American Cancer Society and will be accepted through Wise Funeral Service. Expressions of sympathy are encouraged to be shared on her tribute wall at wisefuneral.com.
