  • Kenn Rospert, Chairmen of the Firelands FCU Board

Where: Firelands FCU Norwalk Branch, 175 Cleveland Road, Norwalk, Ohio 44857. The ribbon cutting is to be held outside, weather permitting.

When: Tuesday, March 7, 2023, at 11:00 a.m.

Why: With an original opening date in Spring 2002, this remodel was coordinated to bring a new, modernized look and functionality to the Norwalk lobby. The branch now boasts eight new glass office spaces for member services, new flooring, a lowered ceiling to assist with privacy, and a more spacious and lowered teller line designed to accommodate people of all ages and abilities. The teller line has also been updated with new technology, including cash counting machines, that will help decrease wait times for our members who visit inside the branch.

About Firelands FCU: Firelands Federal Credit Union had its humble beginnings in 1955, when seven Nickel Plate Road employees joined together to form a financial savings club. When officially chartered in 1957, the credit union was open only to railroad employees, but in 1970, opened its membership to include anyone who lives or works in Erie, Huron and Crawford counties. Today, Firelands FCU serves over 31,000 members.

As a member-owned credit union, the earnings on Firelands FCU’s business activities are returned to the member-owner in the form of higher earnings on savings, lower rates on loans, and a wide range of related financial services at the lowest possible cost.
