Those who failed to enroll for healthcare as required by the federal government may have gotten a reprieve. Those who could not enroll last weekend because of computer issues or extended waits prior to last Sunday’s deadline now have until Feb. 22 to enroll.

The extension was given in light of a Saturday outage of an IRS function for healthcare enrollment. That outage may have prevented as many as 500,000 people from enrolling. The Web site for enrollment is www.HealthCare.gov.

Those who were not enrolled in some type of healthcare program last year will be subject to a fine imposed when they file their 2014 tax returns. Those fines are scheduled to increase for 2015.
