Charles “Chuck” Caldwell, 76, of Galion passed away Wednesday, December 7, 2022 at Avita Galion Hospital.
He was born November 15, 1946 in Galion and was the son of Charles H. and Roma (Baker) Caldwell. Chuck is survived by his wife of 49 years, Angela (Ray) Caldwell whom he married on October 6, 1973.
He graduated from Galion High School in 1964 and proudly served his country in the United States Navy during the Vietnam War. Chuck worked 20 years at the former Peabody in Galion, seven years for Macola in Marion and 18 years for the Galion City Schools. He was a member of the American Legion Scarbrough Post 243 in Galion. In his earlier years, he enjoyed camping, water skiing and traveling to Las Vegas. Chuck was an avid sports enthusiast, especially the Ohio State Buckeyes and Sprint Car racing.
In addition to his wife, he is survived by nephew, Michael Sparks; nieces Stacey (Fred) Russell and Rachel (Jeff) Hinton; sisters-in-law, Linda Hiatt, Patty (Jerry) Marshall and Sue (Ric) Miller; brothers-in-law, Buz (Mary) Ray and Tom (Trudy) Ray and nieces and nephews, Shawn, Sherri, Niki, Josh, Curtis and Chad.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a sister, Sandy Sparks and a father-in-law and mother-in-law, Curtis and Effie Ray.
Private services will be held for the family and burial will be at Fairview Cemetery in Galion.
Military honors will be conducted by the United States Navy.
