MARION—On October 11, 2022, law enforcement officers from the Marion City Police Department, and Marion County Sheriff’s Office executed a search warrant obtained through Judge Teresa Ballinger for a residence in the 900 block of Mt. Vernon Avenue in the city of Marion after an investigation by detectives from the MARMET Drug Task Force.
Detectives seized approximately 82.52g of Cocaine, 1 illegally possessed firearm, and $2222.00 in US Currency.
Arrested during the execution of this search warrant were Natwon McCravy, 26 from Marion, Gregory Owens, 37 from Chicago, Illinois, and Loralai Crawford, 20 from Marion.
McCravy & Crawford were arrested and charged with Trafficking and Possession of Cocaine – Felony 1. Owens was arrested on a warrant. This case will be forwarded to Marion County Prosecutor Ray Grogan for the filing of formal charges.
“This investigation resulted in a seizure of a significant amount of cocaine and a firearm. Detectives, officers and deputies have made Marion safer by taking it and these dealers off the street. MARMET and all of Marion law enforcement will continue to work with the community to combat the supply of these dangerous drugs and illegally possessed weapons that come into our neighborhoods” said Marion Police Chief Jay McDonald.
Marion County Sheriff Matt Bayles said, “We will remain in the fight to rid this poison and if you deal in Marion County, continue looking over your shoulder because you may be next. We will continue to stay vigilant in pursuing these dealers in the attempt to rid our community of the very poison that has taken far too many lives.”
The MARMET Drug Task Force is made of members of the Marion City Police Department, Marion County Sheriff’s Office, and the Marion County Prosecutors Office.
