BUCYRUS—A longtime Bucyrus business is “redefining the ride” with yet another expansion of its service department.
The Motor Ranch, 1825 E. Mansfield Street, has recently installed new lifts and other equipment in its renovated service department, which also features a new dedicated entrance and offices, according to J.R. Jenney, the company’s president, and owner.
He calls it a “one-stop shop.”
“I hear every day from people saying, ‘We didn’t realize you did outside work, too,’” said Jenney, who also runs Ohio Specialty Services in the same 30,000-square-foot facility.
“But through word of mouth, it’s definitely getting out.”

The automobile repair shop already services about 100 vehicles at the used car dealership, Jenney said, as well as the fleet of buses operated by Ohio Specialty Services. But the company saw a need to do more, he said, and keep up with customer demand.
“Myself and our general manager, Colby Bright, have been discussing over the last year where we could expand and grow the company. Our outside customer service base has grown quite a bit, so expanding our service area seemed to make the most sense.”
The service bays are now equipped to work on diesel trucks and buses – “fleet maintenance for other companies,” Jenney said, as well as preventative maintenance on vehicles with handicapped lifts, such as those operated by care facilities.

Jenney said the shop’s ten technicians – under the direction of service manager Tyson Griffin – can also do small repairs on motorcycles and install lift kits for Jeeps and trucks, along with brake work, tires, air-conditioning, and other routine maintenance items. In addition, we would like to thank Chris Daniels, and his craftsmanship, for this amazing renovation.
“When you call, you get someone from our community. You don’t have to talk to a machine,” said Jenney, who joined the family business full-time in 2005. “We can take care of our customers after the sale at this facility as well.”
Jenney opened The Motor Ranch eight years ago, but Ohio Specialty Services – formerly ONDEGO – was founded by his father, Don Jenney, in 1991. It is now the transportation provider for Boards of Developmental Disabilities and other agencies in Crawford and surrounding counties.
“At the end of the day, I can only hope my dad is looking down from Above, proud of what he and my mom, Sarah, started over 31 years ago,” Jenney said, “and proud of where this great team has taken their company to today.”
The Motor Ranch offers additional locations in Galion and Chatfield, Monday through Friday, from 7 a.m. to 5 p.m. More information is on their website – motorranch.cool – or by calling 419-562-3513.
