Maryann Elizabeth Davis, 92, of Galion passed away on Tuesday, August 23, 2022 at Crystal Care Centers of Mansfield.

Maryann was born in Mansfield, Ohio on April 7, 1930 to the late Emil and Elizabeth (Schuff) Sowash. She met her future husband, Harry E. Davis at the Ohio State School for the Blind where they both attended. They married on April 17, 1954 and spent a wonderful 36 years together before his passing on February 9, 1990.

Maryann was a homemaker where she devoted her entire life to taking care of her family and took great pride in raising her children. Maryann was a member of the Fraternal Order of Eagles, Aerie #630, Galion and the Amvets Post #1979, Galion where she loved socializing with her friends.

She always wanted to be with her family as time allowed and her grandchildren and great-grandchildren were her pride and joy. You would often find Maryann watching television where she always had on many of her favorite shows such as Wheel of Fortune, Jeopardy or Price is Right in the evening hours but during the day she loved her General Hospital soap opera.

Maryann is survived by a daughter, Patricia (Robert) Bartholomew of Mansfield; grandchildren, Shawn Rosen of Florence Kentucky, Jeremy (Shalana) Makeever of Galion, Eric Rosen of Weeki Wachee, Florida, Jennifer (Scott) Payne of Galion, William Payne II of Galion, Ryan (Desa) Bartholomew of Crestline, Brandon Bartholomew of Galion; fourteen great-grandchildren; seven great-great-grandchildren; brothers, Fred (Ellen) Sowash of Akron, Robert (Diane) Sowash of Ontario, William (Sandy) Sowash of Washington Court House; sister, Charlotte Wilson of Crestline; and numerous nieces and nephews.

Maryann was preceded in death by her parents, Emil and Elizabeth Sowash; her husband, Harry Davis; daughter, Beverly Payne; sisters, Doris Hartman and Marge Perry; brothers, Dewey Sowash and David Sowash; and a grandson, Ray Rosen Jr.

Friends may call on Thursday, August 25, 2022 from 6:00 pm – 8:00 pm at Schneider-Gompf Funeral Home, 303 Portland Way North, Galion. Funeral services will be held at 1:00 pm on Friday, August 26, 2022 at Schneider-Gompf Funeral Home, Galion, Ohio with Pastor Brian Amstutz officiating. Burial will follow in Greenlawn Cemetery in Crestline, Ohio.
