Donald B. Schilling age 93 of Upper Sandusky died Wed. Aug. 17, 2022 at Wyandot Memorial Hospital.  He was born Aug. 8, 1929 in Eden Township to the late Henry & Ilva (Brown) Schilling.

He married Frances Sammet on June 28, 1958 and she survives in Upper Sandusky.  He is also survived by 2 sons Jim (Sharon) Schilling, Upper Sandusky, Joe (Stacey) Schilling, Jessup MD, a daughter Janet (Ted) Patton, Harrod, 9 grandchildren Lisa (Jeff) Bruggeman, Ashley Patton, Brian (Brittany) Schilling, Kate (Jerrod) Rall, Kara (Cole) Johnson, Kaylee (Zach Johnson) Patton, Emily Patton, Sarah Schilling, Mariah Schilling, 12 great grandchildren Dana, Antwain, Antasha, Braylee, Ruger, Dawson, Knox, Cy, Madox, Keaton, Cali, and future baby J., a brother David (Treva) Schilling, Nevada, and a sister Emily (Mike) Wolfe, Upper Sandusky.

Mr. Schilling was a 1947 graduate of Eden High School.  He served as a Captain the United States Air Force during the Korean War.  Mr. Schilling graduated Summa Cum Laude from The Ohio State University with a Bachelor of Science Degree in Animal Science.  Mr. Schilling was a life long Eden Township farmer.  He also worked at First Citizens National Bank for 53 years, and retired in 1995 as bank president.  He continued to serve on the board of the bank until 2007.  He was a member of Union Salem UMC.  He was also a member of OSU Alpha Zeta Fraternity, Nevada Lions Club, Masonic Lodge, and was Scout Master of Troop 77.  He served on the Wyandot County Historical Society, and on the first Wyandot County Sheriff’s Auxiliary.  In his retirement years, he enjoyed helping on the farm, and his son’s propane business.  He drove truck and hauled grain, at the age of 92 renewed his CDL license.   Don enjoyed spending time with his family, supporting his grandchildren and great grandchildren in all of their activities, and playing his harmonica.  His great sense of humor, pleasant smile, modest quiet demeanor will be missed by all.

A funeral service will be held at 10:00AM Sat. Aug. 20, 2022 in Bringman Clark Funeral Home with Pastor Steve Sturgeon officiating.  Interment will follow in Pleasant View Cemetery, Sycamore.  Visitation will be held from 3-7PM Fri.
