Helen Messmer Bell age 80 of Upper Sandusky died Fri. Aug. 12, 2022 at Wyandot Memorial Hospital. She was born July 10, 1942 in Upper Sandusky to the late Raymond J. & Mildred M. (Jones) Messmer.
Helen first married Richard Reed then Gerald Southward and later James Bell. She is survived by a son Gary (Karen) Reed, TX, a daughter Jackie (Ken Gooding) Boes, Tiffin, four grandchildren Clinton (Lydia) Reed, Jodi (Brian) Kimmel, Krystal (Matt) Bird, Scott (Sydney) Boes, seven great grandchildren, and a sister Rhea Hoy, Upper Sandusky. She is preceded in death by two brothers Harold & Charles Messmer, and a great grandson.
Helen worked at Wyandot County Skilled Nursing & Rehabilitation Center for 22 years. She was a member of First Lutheran Church. She was a former member and past president of the Upper Sandusky Lioness Club, and a past member of Eagles Lodge 2184. She enjoyed baking, humming birds, flowers, painting, drawing, writing poetry, playing games, and making people smile and happy. Helen will be remembered for the way she almost smiled with her eyes.
A graveside service will be held Wed. Aug. 17, 2022 from 10:00 a.m. on Aug. 17, 2022in Old Mission Cemetery with Rev. Kathleen Shuck officiating . Visitation will be held from 5-7PM Tue.
