Sunday, Jan. 4 is a big day for the St. John’s United Church of Christ’s congregation and its current pastor, Steve Voelker. The day will feature a “retirement” of Pastor Voelker, starting with a special service led by Rev. Daniel Bush, the Association Pastor of the Northwest Ohio Association.
Pastor Voelker has served St. John’s for the past six years. Following the “retirement service,” a Sunday dinner will be served in the fellowship hall of the church starting at 11:45 a.m. and it is open to the public. Donations for the meal will be accepted.
Starting at 1 p.m. the Kennedy Quartet will perform a free concert in the sanctuary and is open to the public. The quartet includes John Kennedy on brass, Lanny Gooding on piano, Dan Erickson on bass, and Al Sisson on drums. Becky Blocksom will provide vocals for this “More Jazz in the Sanctuary” concert.
