Barbara E. Roelle, 95, of Galion passed away Sunday, June 12, 2022 at Galion Pointe.
She was born December 10, 1926 in Galion and was the daughter of the late Lloyd M. Leiby and Loretta M. (Cole) Leiby Downing. Barbara married Homer P. Roelle, Jr. on October 20, 1946 and he preceded her in death after 70 years of marriage on May 20, 2017.
Barbara graduated from Galion High School in 1945 and was Galion High School’s first ever Football Queen. She was a member of the former First United Methodist Church, (now Christ United Methodist Church) for over 50 years where she participated in the Ruth Circle. Barbara enjoyed dancing and was also a member of the Galion Golden Age Club. She was a very proud wife, mother, grandmother and great-grandmother.
She is survived by sons, Michael S. (Julia) Roelle and David M. Roelle of Galion; daughters, Jane Ann (Joseph) Meyer of Ottawa Lake, Michigan and Nancy K. (Roelle) Panzarella of Bloomington, Indiana; five grandchildren, Jarrod Roelle, Joseph Roelle, Jacob (Brittney) Roelle all of Galion, Daniel DiManna of Sylvania and Aaron DiManna of Ottawa Lake, Michigan; four great-grandchildren, Kennedi, Maliya, Addilyn and William; brother, James M. (Carol) Downing of Murfreesboro, Tennessee and sisters, Judy (Bill) Johnson of Courtland, Ohio, Colleen (Bernard) Elliker of Ellicott City, Maryland, Karen Yochem of Warner Robbins, Georgia and Anita Crabtree of Galion.
In addition to her parents and husband, she was preceded in death by brothers, Bert and Hugh Downing and brother-in-law, Dan Yochem.
The family will receive friends from 11:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m. Saturday, June 18, 2022 at Richardson Davis Chapel of Snyder Funeral Homes, 218 South Market St., Galion, Ohio 44833 where services will be held at 1:00 p.m. on Saturday, June 18 with Rev. Heather McLeod officiating. Burial will be in Fairview Cemetery, Galion.
