Galion Middle School, along with ten students in grades six through eight, has received national recognition for outstanding performance in the Edmentum Study Island Master Challenge.

A total of 953 schools from across the country competed in Edmentum Master Challenge in October for the title of Edmentum Master. Galion Middle School received recognition as an “Outstanding Student Achievement Award” and “Blue Ribbon Club” school.

“The challenge this fall featured the Study Island program for reading, math and science,” Middle School Principal Jennifer Allerding said. “Our school earned an average of nearly 13 Blue Ribbons per student, which is a testament to the hard work and dedication of our staff, the students and their parents.”

Ten middle school students finished in the Top 200 out of 209,651 participants across the country. Students receiving awards include: Austin Rinehart (7th grade), 7th place; Stephen Thompson (7th grade), 9th place; Travis Sutton (7th grade), 15th place; Destiny Yoder (8th grade), 55th place; Alan Randolph (7th grade), 81st place; Cheyenne Woods (8th grade), 102nd place; Chenling Huang (6th grade), 105th place; Madelyn Thomas (7th grade), 143rd place; Julia Roderick (7th grade), 175th place; Anna Court (7th grade), 180th place.

“On behalf of the Board of Education, I would like to congratulate these Middle School students for their strong showing in the Study Island Master Challenge,” Superintendent Mark Stefanik said. “The achievements of these students are a testament to their strong work ethic and the dedication of the Middle School staff to provide a high quality education to each of our students.”
