It was a time of celebration in Bucyrus Tuesday morning as a new business held its grand opening on West Mansfield Street.

Murphy’s Needful Things held its grand opening at 10 a.m. Tuesday morning after holding a soft opening Monday.

Owner Gary Murphy explained why he opened the new business selling used items including appliances.

“I own the business next door, and I thought there was a need, because I went looking for some used appliances and I couldn’t find (any); couldn’t find (any) stores that were close that did it,” Murphy said.

Murphy, who owns an auto repair business next door, accepts donations as well as consignments.

Bucyrus Chamber of Commerce Executive Director Deb Pinion was on hand for the ceremony.

“They are needful things in our community, and what I am really excited about is that Gary and his family really put quality first,” Pinion said. “If you look around in here everything is clean and neat and nicely kept. I love to go to stores like this. It is a place where you can find things and reuse them. In this throwaway society today that is really important. Gary and his family have done a great job.”

Murphy’s Needful Things will be open from 10 a.m. until 7 p.m. Mondays through Saturdays.
