BUCYRUS — The field of the 56th Bill Rahm Invitational Bowling Tournament has been pared to two following action this weekend at Suburban Lanes.

On Saturday, in the winners’ bracket, Don McGlaughlin rolled the days’ only 1000 series, defeating Brock Lykens 1036-859. Mike Lear edged Dave Shock 951-912.

In the losers’ bracket, Al Garvin dropped Nathan Monk 920-841 and Mitch Long slipped past Phil Gabel 806-788. Monk and Gabel were eliminated.

Two more bowlers were eliminated in the second losers’ bracket session on Saturday. Long topped Lykens 974-815 and Shock beat Garvin 877-804. Lykens and Garvin left the field.

On Sunday’s winners’ bracket match, McLaughlin squeezed past Lear 946-921. In the first session of the losers’ bracket, Shock rolled another 1000 series to beat Long 1036-986, which took Long from the field.

In the second session, Lear narrowly defeated Shock 950-927, putting Shock out of the tournament.

That left Lear as the survivor of the losers’ bracket to meet McLaughlin in the finals this Saturday at 1 p.m. back at Suburban Lanes.

If Lear wins the four-game match, a fifth game roll-off will decide the champion.
