SHELBY—OhioHealth Physician Group Obstetrics and Gynecology opened on January 31, in the former practice of Dr. Omar Guimaraes, who is preparing for retirement. The practice is located at 24 Morris St., Suite 3, in Shelby.

He has steadfastly cared for the patients throughout our area and is a trusted partner, in which we are excited to move forward with during this transition,” said Vinson Yates, president of OhioHealth Shelby Hospital and OhioHealth Mansfield Hospital. “OhioHealth understands the importance of having accessible obstetric and gynecologic care in and adjacent to northern Richland County.”

The OB/GYN practice providers in Shelby include certified nurse midwife Laura Masimore and OB/GYN Dr. Terry Grogg, who will both see patients at the Shelby office and deliver babies at Shelby Hospital. In addition, Dr. Grogg will perform obstetric and gynecologic surgeries at Shelby Hospital. Dr. Guimaraes will continue to provide OB/GYN hospitalist coverage at Shelby Hospital through March 31.

Patients of Dr. Guimaraes with appointments scheduled after January 30 will be seen by OhioHealth OB/GYN providers. The practice is also accepting new patients, and appointments can be scheduled by calling 419-342-2900.
