Richard A. “Brownie” Brown, 82, of Galion passed away Saturday, January 29, 2022 at OhioHealth Mansfield Hospital.
Born October 8, 1939 in Galion, he was the son of Harry Joseph Brown. He married Cathy (Drake) Brown on June 26, 1971 and they enjoyed 50 years together.
He was a graduate of St. Peter’s High School in 1957 and was a member of St. Joseph Catholic Church in Galion. Brownie started farming as a young man and served in the United States Navy in Vietnam. After receiving his honorable discharge he opened his business, Brown Trucking-Excavating. Later he opened Truck and Equipment Repair and before finally retiring, he sold tools for Mac Tools and Cornwell. He enjoyed working, motorcycles, attending auctions, big rigs, heavy equipment, truck and tractor pulls, collecting metal toy trucks and pulling with his own truck. Brownie especially enjoyed being with his family.
He was a member of AMVETS 1979, VFW 4329, a lifetime member of Vietnam veterans, DAV and the American Legion Scarbrough Post 243. Brownie belonged to the Aircraft Owners Pilots Association, American Truck Association, NRA and the American Motorcyclist Association.
In addition to his wife, he is survived by sons David (Sherri) Brown and Matthew Brown, all of Galion, grandsons Tyler and Cooper Brown, both of Galion; granddaughter Allison Sheriff of Galion; half-brother Paul (Kim) Brown of Mansfield and several nieces and nephews.
In addition to his father, he was preceded in death by brother John Brown and sister Sue Kidwell.
Following his wishes, all services will be private.
