Irma Catherine Cronenwett, 96, of Galion passed away Wednesday, January 5, 2022 at Joshua Tree Care Center in North Olmsted surrounded by her loving family. She had been in failing health this past year.

 

Born November 21, 1925 in Tulley Township, Marion County, she was the daughter of Walter and Ellen (Cress) Guinther. She married Paul Cronenwett on August 22, 1948 and they enjoyed 40 years together before his passing in December 27, 1988.

 

She was a graduate of Whetstone High School in 1942 and member of Peace Lutheran Church in Galion. Irma was a homemaker, also worked at the former North Electric Company and helped her husband in the office of the Crawford Construction Company. She was a long time member of Gal Lions and her husband Paul was a charter member of the Galion Lions Club. They attended several International Lion Club Conventions.

 

Irma enjoyed working in her yard, being outdoors, painting ceramics and wall papering. She liked to help family with household projects and attending family events. Irma enjoyed attending and watching Ohio State football games.

 

She is survived by daughter Julie (Christopher) Smith of North Ridgeville; granddaughter Emily (Kyle) Susman of Berea and numerous nieces and nephews.

 

In addition to her parents and husband, she was preceded in death by infant daughter Paula Sue; infant brother Robert and brother and sister-in-law Richard and Alice Guinther; infant sister Mary Louise and sister and brother-in-law Marie and Robert Holtshouse.

 

The family will receive friends from 4:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. Monday, January 10, 2022 at Richardson Davis Chapel of Snyder Funeral Homes, 218 South Market St., Galion, Ohio 44833.  A funeral service will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Tuesday, January 11 at Peace Lutheran Church, 129 West Walnut Street, Galion, Ohio 44833 with Rev. Richard Genzman officiating. Burial will follow at Fairview Cemetery in Galion.

 

The family would like to thank the wonderful nurses and staff at Joshua Tree Care Center and at St. John Westshore Hospital for Irma’s care.

 

Out of respect for their guests, the family requires that masks are worn. Thank you for your cooperation.
