BUCYRUS—Dan Ross, 69, of Bucyrus, died today.

Ross, a lifetime resident with a public servant’s heart, devoted his life to making Bucyrus better.

Ross served as a firefighter, Fire Chief, Mayor, and council member. Ross served as Mayor till 2010.

In 2015, Ross made a run on the Democratic ticket to regain the Mayor’s seat but ultimately lost the election to Reser. Despite that loss, the two went on to work together.

In 2017, Ross was appointed to fill a vacancy left by Wanda Sharrock when she resigned her seat on Bucyrus City Council. As always, Ross was excited to serve. He was sworn in by Mayor Reser:

I’ve known you a long time,” Reser said to Ross, reminiscing on their time growing up as neighbors. “Are you ready to get sworn in?”

“It’s just like coming back home,” Ross responded.

Serving the community is what Ross enjoyed the most. He often attended functions in support of the community. A local history buff, Ross enjoyed discussing Bucyrus’s history.
