
BUCYRUS—Theadore Britt, 32 (address unknown), appeared in Crawford County Common Pleas Court on Monday to plead guilty to two counts of trafficking in drugs, each second-degree felonies.
Crawford County Common Pleas Court Judge Sean Leuthold honored a joint sentencing recommendation between the State and defense. Judge Leuthold sentenced Britt to three years in prison on each count for a total of six years in prison.
Judge Leuthold explained to Britt that because his crime falls under the Regan Tokes Act, his sentence could be extended based on a number of factors. The Ohio Department of Corrections and Rehabilitation can also decrease his sentence between 5-15% based on exemplary behavior.
Brandon Batchelder, 37, of Galion, appeared in court to answer to charges that he violated the terms and conditions of his community control.
According to probation officer Jeremy Clay, Batchelder was on community control for just two days when he violated probation. He came into the visit and used urine he concealed in a bottle for the test. The dirty urine he sneaked in for testing then tested positive for cocaine. He admitted drug use to Officer Clay.
According to Assistant Prosecutor Ryan Hoovler, the State is seeking new charges against Batchelder.
Judge Leuthold ordered the matter set got a full hearing and reappointed attorney Neil Huggins to represent him. Bond was set at $25,000.
In other court news, Brooke Wilcox, 42, of Galion, was arraigned on one count of possession of drugs, a felony of the second degree punishable with up to 8 years in prison, two counts of trafficking in drugs one court a felony of the third degree punishable with up to 36 months in prison and one count a felony of the fourth degree punishable with up to 18 months in prison as well as two misdemeanor charges including illegal possession of drugs and child endangering.
When originally arrested, Wilcox posted a $100,000 and is represented by attorney Derek Dailey.
Judge Leuthold arraigned Wilcox and continued her $100,000 bond. He placed her on house arrest with permission to seek medical attention since she learned she was exposed to Covid.
