BUCYRUS – Good Hope Lutheran Church in Bucyrus is ushering in the Christmas Season with a special gift of its own – a service of lights.
The church, 129 West Charles Street, will hold Advent Services on Wednesday, Dec. 1, 8, and 15 from 6 to 6:30 p.m. in the auditorium. The public is invited to attend the services, which will be held using the “Holden Evening Prayer.”
“This is a beautiful service of lights . . . lights shining and leading us to the birth of our Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ,” said the Rev. Tancye Addison, pastor of Good Hope.
Like other area churches, Good Hope is decorating its worship center for Advent and Christmas.
But Rev. Addison said it’s also important to prepare our hearts and make room in our busy lives for “the most amazing gift the world has ever received.”
The holidays, she said, can often be painful and lonely for many people. She is encouraging church members and others in the community to pray, act on their prayers, and share God’s love with one another, especially this time of year.
“When we do this, we realize we are never alone,” Rev. Addison said. “May the fruits of the Spirit (love, joy, peace, patience, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, gentleness, and self-control) be the gifts we share.”
