Families from all over Crawford County converged to the Lowe-Volk Park Nature Center Saturday night for the Crawford Park District’s Annual Halloween Family Fun Night.

In its ninth year at the Park District, the Halloween Family Fun Night drew in an estimated 500 to 600 people participating in numerous nature and Halloween themed activities.

Halloween Family Fun Night 10-18-14 (3)“We got crafts, pumpkin for them to color, bon fire with hot dogs, a scary hike a non-scary hike. We have animals out for them. So you can imagine the fun they are having. That’s what we want. We want them to be out in nature, and see the nature center and have a good time,” Crawford Park District Director Bill Fisher said.

“The non-scary hike is just a flat nature hike in the dark, and the scary hike has skeletons, witches, spiders, and even a taxidermy armadillo,” Fisher explained.

Isabel Brenneman, who dressed as Princess Elsa from the movie Frozen, attended the event with her grandmother Lora Brenneman, who dressed as a pirate. Isabel explained what she enjoyed about the Halloween Family Fun Night.

“Being with people and being with my grandma, and doing things,” Isabel said. “My absolute favorite was holding some of the things.”

Dressed as a robot, Darrell Morrison was coloring a leaf inside the nature center.

“My favorite part has been making pumpkins and coloring the wooden leaves,” Morrison said.
