Lucille “Lucy” Hartman, 91, of Galion went to be with her Lord on Sunday, October 17, 2021, surrounded by her family at home.

She was born on May 14, 1930, in Ashland County, Ohio, and was the daughter of Mark and Anabel (Moffett) Boyer.

Lucy was a 1948 graduate of Hayesville High School and attended Ashland College. She worked as a secretary to the Ashland County Schools Superintendent and Bexley City Schools Superintendent.

Lucy married Dr. R. Lee Hartman on September 26, 1954, and enjoyed 36 years of marriage before his passing on May 9, 1991. She assisted him in his dental office for the last 11 years of his life.

Lucy was an active member of St. Paul United Methodist Church in Galion, where she was a member of the L.H.O. Class, the Esther Circle, and also taught the children Junior Church and Bible School. She was also a member of the Galion Community Hospital Auxiliary, TWIG 1, where she served as a volunteer. Lucy served as a Girl Scout leader for several years. Her favorite pastimes were picking peaches and baking cookies, then giving them away

Lucy dearly loved her family, children, and grandchildren. She is survived by three children, Anne Marie Velikoff of Columbus, Ohio, Robert Lee (Becky) Hartman, Jr. of Sulphur Springs and David Mark (Melissa) Hartman of Dover, Ohio; four grandchildren, Carly (Jesse) Capone, Miranda (Jeff Fein) Velikoff and Lucy and Jonas Hartman and two great-grandchildren, Colin and Graham Capone. She also treasured her many friends.

In addition to her parents and husband, she is preceded in death by a son-in-law, Alex Velikoff.

The family will receive friends from 12:00 p.m. to 1:00 p.m. Wednesday, October 20, 2021, at the pavilion at St. Paul United Methodist Church, 746 Cherry Street, Galion, Ohio  44833, where services will be held at 1:00 p.m. Wednesday, with Pastor Ash Welch officiating. Burial will follow at Fairview Cemetery in Galion.
