NEW WASHINGTON — Are the Colonel Crawford Eagles getting better?

Coach Ryan Teglovic said he thinks so, but he isn’t sure.

On a night when Buckeye Central raised more than $3,000 for pancreatic cancer research in Teglovic’s name, his Eagles were unruly visitors.

The Eagles dominated both lines of scrimmage against BC, rushing for 405 yards and holding the Bucks to three rushing yards and no first downs for the game in a 76-0 win.

With the win, the Eagles improved to 4-1 in the Northern 10 Athletic Conference and 7-1 overall, BC dropped to 0-5 in the conference, 2-6 overall.

Are the Eagles getting better? Teglovic didn’t have a ready answer.

“I hope so,” Teglovic said. “You never can really tell on that until you see the film the next day, so, hopefully, when we get into the room with these guys, we’ll see.

“I felt we played a little better tonight than we did last week,” Teglovic added. “Last Friday was a little rough in some areas. I hope that we’re getting better. I think on both sides of the ball we are. We hope that continues into next week.”

Lincoln Mollenkopf rushed for 193 yards on 13 carries and three touchdowns and running mate Matt Clinard added 112 yards on 10 carries and scored four times in a little more than a half, as Crawford bolted out to a 62-0 lead at halftime.

Buckeye Central coach Chad Jensen felt his team played as well as they could.

“Crawford is a really good team, and we told our kids that all we ask is they give their best effort,” Jensen said. “They played as hard as they could, and they gave their best effort.”

Mollenkopf scored from a yard out on Crawford’s initial possession before Clinard added scoring runs of one and 11 yards.

Nolan McKibben scored on a 34-yard pass from Kamryn Lohr and Carson Feichtner scored on a 12-yard interception return as the Eagles held a 35-0 lead after one frame.

In the second, Mollenkopf added a nine-yard run, Carter Valentine grabbed a 20-yard strike from Lohr and Mollenkopf scored on a 35-yard run. Clinard added a short TD late in the half.

Clinard scored on a three-yard run in the third period and Tanner Dyer scored in the fourth to complete the scoring.

The Eagles dominated both lines of scrimmage, as BC punted eight times and never got a first down in the game.

“Our offensive line has played well all year and have done a great job,” Teglovic said. “We have weapons offensively and when we play well upfront then we’re playing good football.

“The defensive line, I felt, has really started to come on the last three or four weeks and started to play good football for us,” he added. “That was one of the question marks coming into the season and those guys are really starting to play good football.”

Jensen said that the outmanned Bucks simply were no match for the talented Eagles.

“We had a great week of practice, and I told the kids I was proud of them at halftime because they didn’t quit,” Jensen said. “And I was proud them because  they played against a great football team, and they gave their best effort.

“As coaches, what are we supposed to do? This is all we can ask. We were outmanned and the kids played the best and as hard as they could.”
