Social media is a trend that is not going away anytime soon, and the Bucyrus Elementary School Library is ready to take advantage of this method of communications with the launch of its own Facebook page.
The page is designed to keep parents informed of events taking place in the BES Library. It is also a source for information about books being read to students, and ideas for parents to help their children become better readers.
“This is a new and exciting outreach method of us,” Librarian Diane Kaple said. “Mrs. Binnix and I work very hard to encourage students to read and develop a love of the written word. This allows us to extend our work to help our families, and that’s what makes it really exciting.”
The page will also feature a review of the Weekly Read Aloud activities and links to library questions and answers and a newsletter archive.
“We are very excited that Mrs. Kaple and Mrs. Binnix are taking the initiative to offer this to our parents and community,” Associate Principal
Timothy Souder said. “Studies have shown that excellence in reading leads to excellence in other academic areas, and we hope that all our families will take advantage of this wonderful opportunity to help their children grow a strong love of reading.”
